Warm neutrals will be in fashion for 2023, but stark white kitchens won’t. Many designers are now looking at the opposite side of the color spectrum to shake up the status quo. A New York City-based designer, Phillip Thomas, points out that kitchens are becoming more like extensions to entertaining spaces. They need a glamorous backdrop!
For the perfect dose of goes-with-anything-glamour, Thomas reaches for black, a shade that’s equal parts practical and pretty. He shares that black is especially significant in smaller kitchens. “While most people wouldn’t choose a darker color in a smaller space than they would like, it tricks the eyes into believing the space is larger.”
This color should be light enough. Designer David Frazier considers Benjamin Moore’s Mopboard Black a staple. He says that the Mopboard Black is neutral and can be used in any kitchen style, but it also creates depth and richness that’s difficult to achieve with lighter colors.
